Many programs begin with theory — notes, symbols, rules — before a child has ever really felt what music is. It's a bit like handing someone a grammar textbook before they've spoken their first word. It's no wonder so many kids lose interest early, and so many parents feel like they've run out of options.
We wanted to try something gentler — starting with what a young child already understands instinctively: touch, movement, and time.
What actually happens in a class
There's more to sound than most classes ever explore
We turn every quality of sound into something to discover, hands rather than lectures leading the way.
Duration — Children handle rhythm physically — long notes, short notes — long before they ever read one on a page.
Intensity — Loud, soft, somewhere in between. Kids learn to shape sound before they ever hear the technical term for it.
Pitch — High, low, and everything in between. The ear sharpens simply through comparing and noticing, again and again.
Timbre — Learning to recognize a violin's voice from a piano's, a flute's from a drum's. Every instrument becomes a little character your child gets to know.
1. A moment of calm — Every class opens gently: a breath, a bit of quiet, a chance to arrive.
2. Listening first — Sound boxes and mystery sounds invite your child to listen before they're told what they're hearing.
3. Playing and imagining — Glockenspiel, voice, little stories. Your child sings, plays, and imagines, with the ear leading the way.
4. Hands-on discovery — Your child works directly with our Serclet materials, building real musical understanding through touch.
5. Moving to the rhythm — The body remembers what the mind is still learning — tapping, walking, feeling the beat.
6. A gentle close — Just as it began, the class ends in a moment of calm and quiet focus.

The Serclet Method
MEET Maria Ángels Florit, the Creator
Àngels didn't set out to build a method — she set out to understand what was really happening in her own classroom. As a music teacher in secondary schools since 1997, and later running her own private music classroom, she spent years quietly watching how young children respond to sound, long before anyone hands them a page of notation. What she noticed changed the direction of her career: given the right conditions, even very young children show a remarkable capacity to sense, absorb, and understand music through their senses alone.
Drawing on the work of pedagogues Willems and Dalcroze — and formalizing her training with the Willems International Association — Àngels spent years developing a method of her own, rooted in lived, hands-on experience rather than early abstraction. The clearest expression of that work became her handmade manipulative learning materials, designed specifically to make the abstract, complex world of music approachable for children between the ages of 3 and 10. In 2019, that body of work became Serclet. Since then, she's brought the method into schools throughout Spain and beyond, trained educators across the country and internationally, and watched Serclet earn recognition for its innovation, including a Connect'Up Grow win backed by CaixaBank and being named a finalist for the EmprendeXXI Illes Balears award.

Meet Our Dedicated Teacher
Born in Havana, Cuba, Anabel brings both a musician's depth and a founder's drive to Serclet Florida — a harpist and researcher with a Doctorate in Music, she's spent her career expanding access to music education, including founding a nonprofit that brings harp education and Latin American repertoire to communities across the region. That same passion for making music genuinely accessible is what drew her to the Serclet Method, and what she's brought home to Florida.
